Accounting Department Manager

West Texas Centers is searching for highly a motivated Accounting Department  Manager.  This Position is responsible for performing advanced financial and cost accounting work.  Work involves developing, directing, and preparing agency budget report requests; establishing and maintaining accounting and internal audit systems, procedures, and controls; and preparing a variety of related financial analyses and other reports.  Performs gathering and analysis of data to monitor trends, as well as analysis of impact regarding changes in reimbursement policies as they affect collections.  This position reports directly to the Deputy CEO. This position is based in Howard County.

Job Functions include:

·  Maintains Fiscal System in Abila; new accounts, cost centers, distribution codes, control parameters, etc.

·  Prepares & enters General Ledger entries.  Balance General Ledger each month.  Run monthly reports - (Balance Sheet, Monthly & YTD Operating Statement, Budget Comparison, Expense Ledgers)

·  Each day verify cash/checks received to deposit log.

·  Reviews Purchase Orders over $300 before approving and signing.

·  Prepares monthly ECI invoices and reports.

·  Prepares monthly MHFA invoices and reports.

·  Prepares monthly ADRC invoices and reports.

·  Prepares and/or assists in preparing 1099s for contractors, and other year-end reports.

·  Serves as back up to the Petty Cash custodian for 409 Runnels, who submits at least monthly Petty Cash report for reimbursement.

·  Assists with Accounts Payable as needed. Provides backup, problem solving or other assistance as needed.

·  Assists with the annual external audit

·  Develop and implement best practices in accounting, record keeping and general accounting oversight to maintain an effective and efficient department.

Qualifications:

Education: Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or a related field (preferred).

Experience: Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, financial reporting, or related roles, with at least 2 years in a supervisory capacity.

Skills:

Strong knowledge of cost accounting principles, financial reporting, and state regulations.

Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel; experience with ERP systems (preferred).

Strong leadership, communication, and team management skills.

Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.

Ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and prioritize effectively.

Pay Range: $70,000 - $80,000
