Support Services Tech

Will provide support services to individuals with IDD. Services will be provided within the community and in the person's home. Services include Employment Assistance, Individualized Competitive Employment/Supported Employment, Community Supports/Supported Home Living, PASHab, and In-Home Respite. Responsibilities include providing training, supervision, and/or support in the areas of self-help, independent living, community participation and involvement, social and peer development, employment, financial management, and health maintenance. Required to work flexible hours and may be required to use personal vehicle to perform job duties. Will be supervised by the Support Services Manager. 

Starting Pay: $12.90

ESSENTIAL TASKS AND PURPOSES:

  • Personal care
    • Will assist consumers with bathing, dressing, grooming, and toileting when needed. 
    • Will assist with lifting, repositioning, and transferring when needed.
    • Will provide personal care/physical assistance in the least intrusive manner possible
  • Behavior intervention, (carrying out behavior therapy programs, intervening to prevent injury to individual or  employees, etc.)
    • Intervention is provided quickly and  appropriately by utilizing coping  techniques, including communication skills.
    • Behavior therapy programs are carried out as written.
  • Documentation.
    • Documentation will be legible, accurate, and completed in accordance with WTC policies and procedures.
    • All documentation will be turned in no later than 24 hours of shift or scheduled work period.
  • Training/active treatment, (following  program plans (PDP's), training  programs, everyday living skills, vocational skills, employment, special needs training, etc.
    • Individual program plans (PDP's / I.P.'s) are followed as written.
    • Assigned training occurs as written and planned.
    • Appropriate leisure activities are  provided as scheduled.
  • Infection control.
    • Universal precautions are followed when   cleaning spills on floor/carpet, disposing of soiled linens, etc.
  • Physical assistance.
    • Individuals are physically assisted, as   needed (lifting, repositioning, transferring, etc.)
    • Performs emergency health procedures as needed.
  • Effective communication.
    • Important matters are communicated to    appropriate persons in an accurate, timely, and professional manner.
  • Assist individuals served with  managing their finances.
    • Policies regarding personal funds are  followed as written
    • Money management training is provided as needed.
    • Receipts must be turned in the same day the purchase is made.
  • Provide Employment Assistance for individuals seeking employment.
    • Complete the consumer's Employment Profile, as directed.
    • Make contacts with potential employers on behalf of and with consumers.
    • Will document and deliver services as authorized in the Service Plan.
  • Provide Supported Employment services to individuals employed in the community.
    • Will serve as a job coach for consumers working in the community.
    • Will complete the Functional Job Assessment.
    • Will document and deliver services as authorized in the Service Plan.
  • Provide Community Supports/SHL to individuals living in their own or family home.
    • Will provide supports and training in the areas of self-help, independent living, money management, community participation, social and interpersonal development, and health maintenance.
    • Will arrive at consumers' homes at the scheduled time.
    • Will document and deliver services as authorized in the Service Plan.
  • Provide In-Home Respite services
    • Will participate in the development of Respite Plans.
    • Will supervise consumers in their family home while the primary care giver is away.
    • Will provide respite in compliance with Center policies and procedures and in accordance with the Respite Plan.
  • Transport individuals to and from employment and training activities, community activities, and other events as authorized.
    • Transportation is provided in compliance with Center policy.
    • Consumers will arrive ?on-time? to scheduled events.
    • Will arrive to pick-up consumers at the scheduled time.
  • Ensures consumer residence and vehicles are maintained in safe manner.
    • All unsafe conditions are reported to proper personnel.
    • Safety checklists are completed as assigned.
    • Follow procedures for ensuring safety of individuals in emergencies.
    • Client and staff injures are reported  immediately to appropriate personnel.
  • Housekeeping.
    • Individuals are aided with housekeeping tasks as needed.
    • Will complete tasks that residents are unable to perform.
  • Medication monitoring.
    • Will provide medication monitoring assistance in compliance with WTC policies and procedures.
    • bndividuals are assisted with ordering  medications as needed.
    • Medications are properly counted and  documented.
    • Medication errors/refusals are  reported to nurse immediately.
  • Emergency Procedures.
    • CPR and First Aid are administered   properly when needed.
  • Reports possible abuse/neglect.
    • Suspected or witnessed abuse/neglect will be reported immediately.
    • Employee will report abuse and neglect as outlined in WTC policies and procedures.
  • Training
    • Employee must take, pass, and maintain all mandated IDD training components to include, CPR & First Aid.
  • Confidentiality
    •   Follows WTC policies regarding client confidentiality. 
    •    Will not entertain personal guests/visitors at the work site.
  • Cell Phone 
    • All employees will be required to have a working mobile device, which each employee will receive a monthly $50 stipend for WTC business related use of a personal cell phone.


ESSENTIAL WORK BEHAVIORS: 

All employees are expected to comply with all West Texas Centers (WTC) Policies and Procedures. This includes but is not limited to the following:

  • WTC Corporate Compliance Policy, related procedures and reporting requirements

  • Standards for Employees Policy 
  • Property and Equipment Policies and related procedures 

Staff will establish and maintain effective work relationships with individuals served and their families, supervisors, co-workers, and visitors by demonstrating cooperative, courteous, and respectful behavior. Staff will adhere to rules outlined in Confidentiality Statement signed by employee and follow Information Services policy/ procedure guidelines related to security and accountability as a user of WTC network and software application technology. 

All team members will promote and ensures safety guidelines are followed for the work environment by maintaining clean, neat, organized and safe work areas. This includes but is not limited to the following: 

  • Safety concerns are reported to supervisor immediately upon discovery and/or corrected. 
  • Identifies and reports any unsafe factors in the environment. 
  • Reports and/or corrects safety hazards in the work area. 
  • Utilizes universal precautions when handling all blood and body fluids. 
  • Adheres to all standards, policies and procedures of infection control. 
  • Universal precautions are utilized in accordance to WTC policy and procedures. 

Team Members must have and maintain a driving record that is acceptable for insurability through the Center's insurance carrier.  Staff must maintain a safe, inspected and road-worthy vehicle and have a valid Texas Driver's License. Staff must notify supervisor immediately of any driving violations or citations received from law enforcement with no evidence of failure to report. Must meet the criteria that indicate a commitment to safe and responsible driving as defined by the Texas Risk Management Fund.
