Mobile Crisis Outreach Worker

The Regional Crisis Worker will be responsible for the daytime crisis coverage for assigned counties from 8 to 5, five days each week.  On-call after-hours coverage is essential.  The Regional Crisis Worker will serve as crisis back-up if needed, will provide crisis support services for clients in Service Package 0 for assigned counties, and will provide services to post SMHF discharged clients for up to 30 days if needed.  The Regional Crisis Worker is responsible for providing services to clients as directed by the program manager to assist case managers in delivering all prescribed rehab services.  Falsification of any document constitutes grounds for dismissal. The Regional Crisis Worker will complete paperwork and data entry on the computer system in a timely manner.  Requires QMHP credential, computer and writing skills, self-directed performance and the ability to work with mentally ill clients, families and agencies in a professional, caring manner.  Must have a valid Texas Driver's license and a driving record that is acceptable for insurability through the Center's insurance carrier.  This position is supervised by the Regional Program Manager. Salary:$21.84

ESSENTIAL TASKS AND PURPOSES:

  • Performs in-person crisis assessments to determine appropriate resolution of the presenting situation.
    • Will assist persons determined to need emergency crisis intervention to link with emergency clinic services, respite services and psychiatric hospitals to alleviate mental health crisis, in accordance with WTCMHMR policy and community mental standards.
    • Will assist persons screened ineligible for clinic services to link with other service agencies for non-psychiatric needs.
    • Must respond within 15 minutes to page and respond to mobile requests within 1 hour.
  • Serves as the SAI for up to 30 days provided to persons being discharged from a SMHF or a private psychiatric hospital on unestablished clients
    • Completes TRR assessments, necessary aftercare paperwork and treatment plans on clients being discharged from a SMHF to assigned counties.  Enters such assessments in EHR.   Provides services as recommended by the TRR assessment including case management, skills training, mental health information training and psychosocial rehabilitation.  Insures that clients discharged from the SMHF or a private psychiatric facility are seen at least 2 times/week for two weeks.
    • Serves as the SAI for unestablished clients the first 30 days following discharge from the SMHF or a private psychiatric facility.
    • Assures necessary appointments with physicians are obtained for patients discharged from a SMHF or a private psychiatric hospital. 
    • Insures that an SAI is assigned prior to the first 30 days complete TRR assessment following discharge from the SMHF to insure a smooth transition to the permanent SAI.
  • Serves as SAI to all Service Package 0 clients.
    • Responsible for  admissions to hospitals or respite, if needed
    • Responsible for  referrals to support services
    • Provides services as indicated in the SP 0 service package
    • Insures that financial paperwork is completed as needed, schedules appointments with the Consumer Financial Specialist.
    • Schedules client to see physician, if needed, within 7 days
    • Completes follow up Assessment within 7 days
    • Insures that an SAI is assigned if continued services are needed
  • Assists case managers in delivering rehab and skills training services to clients as assigned by the program manager.
    • Assist CM's in delivery of services as authorized in client treatment plans. 
    • Minimum of 75 authorized hours will be provided to clients on an average monthly basis.   <76 exceeds, 75 hrs, meets and >74 hrs is rated below standards.
    • Documentation of services is completed collaboratively unless unable than according to standards within 24 hours of completion of service. Ensure that all services are delivered only as authorized within the WTCMHMR RDM authorization guidelines.

Staff will adhere to rules outlined in Confidentiality Statement signed by employee and follow Information Services policy/ procedure guidelines related to security and accountability as a user of WTC network and software application technology.

All team members will promote and ensures safety guidelines are followed for the work environment by maintaining clean, neat, organized and safe work areas. This includes but is not limited to the following:

  • Safety concerns are reported to supervisor immediately upon discovery and/or corrected.
  • Identifies and reports any unsafe factors in the environment.
  • Reports and/or corrects safety hazards in the work area.
  • Utilizes universal precautions when handling all blood and body fluids.
  • Adheres to all standards, policies and procedures of infection control.
  • Universal precautions are utilized in accordance to WTC policy and procedures.

Team Members must have and maintain a driving record that is acceptable for insurability through the Center's insurance carrier.  Staff must maintain a safe, inspected and road-worthy vehicle and have a valid Texas Driver's License. Staff must notify supervisor immediately of any driving violations or citations received from law enforcement with no evidence of failure to report. Must meet the criteria that indicate a commitment to safe and responsible driving as defined by the Texas Risk Management Fund. 



  • Employee will maintain QMHP qualifications and remain current in clinical supervision. 
    • Receive and maintain QMHP credentials. 
    • Complete the mandatory clinical supervision hours needed to maintain QMHP status..
